This Public Notice is issued for publication in newspapers, electronic media, and on our official website for the information of all concerned.

1. Earlier Communication Issued

It is hereby informed that on 31 August 2025, the Adi Shankaracharya Mathamnaya Mahanushasana Manishi Vidwat Parishad® issued a formal written communication addressed to:

H.H. Sri Bharati Teertha Swamiji Maharaj
Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, Chikkamagaluru District, Karnataka.

The said communication sought historical, traditional, scriptural, and documentary clarification on certain matters relating to the claims, lineage, and institutional traditions associated with Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham.

2. Nature of Clarification Sought

The communication dated 31 August 2025 requested clarification and supporting evidence on, inter alia:

• Chronology and historical dating of Sri Adi Shankaracharya
• Continuity claims of the present Sringeri institution with the Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetham
• Traditions relating to Sri Chandramauleshwara Linga
• Questions regarding initiation into Dandi Sannyasa Deeksha traditions
• Usage of titles such as “Jagadguru” and “Shankaracharya”
• Adi Shankarachaya age date : 2500 or 1200
• Mathamnaya Mahanushasanam copy from Sringeri
• Where is Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Math in Karnataka ?

The communication also requested documentary evidence including manuscripts, inscriptions, archival records, and other traditional sources.

3. Opportunity Granted for Response

A period of fifteen (15) days was granted for submission of a formal response along with supporting documentary evidence.

4. Non-Response

Despite the lapse of the stipulated period, no written response, clarification, or documentary evidence has been received by this Parishad as of the date of this Public Notice.

5. Record of Disputed Questions

Accordingly, it is hereby recorded that the questions raised in the communication dated 31 August 2025 remain unanswered and require further scholarly and/or judicial examination.

6. Invitation for Evidence

All persons, institutions, scholars, researchers, trustees, and authorities who possess relevant:

• Manuscripts
• Inscriptions
• Historical records
• Traditional documentation
• Legal or scholarly materials

are hereby invited to submit such material for review within fifteen (15) days from the date of publication of this notice.

This Public Notice is issued strictly for the purpose of historical inquiry, academic clarification, and preservation of traditional knowledge.

The Parishad reserves all its rights to seek appropriate remedies, declarations, and determinations before competent judicial and statutory authorities, if necessary.

ఇందుమూలముగా తెలియజేయునది ఏమనగా
శృంగేరీ మఠానికి చెందిన ఒక వ్యక్తి “సంన్యాసి” వేష రూపములో తిరుగుతున్న “విధుశేఖర భారతి” అనే ఒక వ్యక్తి ని సంపూర్ణముగా ఒక పతిత సంన్యాసి గా నిర్ధారణ చేస్తూ , ఉద్గోషణ చేస్తూ , సనాతన ధర్మమునుండి, వైదిక పరంపరనుండి శ్రీ ఆది శంకరాచార్యుల దశనామి పరంపరనుండి సంపూర్ణముగా భహిష్కరించడమైనది, గతకొన్ని సంవత్సరములుగా జరుగుతున్న అనేక విషయములను నిశితముగా కూలంకషముగా పరిశీలించిన పిమ్మట ధర్మశాస్త్రము ఆధారముగా పరిషత్ నిర్ణయము , అటులనే శృంగేరీ మఠము నుండి కూడా బహిష్కరించడమైనది,
కొన్ని కారణములు : 1) సనాతన వర్ణాశ్రమ ధర్మానికి, 2) శ్రీ శ్రీ ఆది శంకరాచార్యులవారి మూల సిద్ధాంతములకు 3) మఠామ్నాయ మహానుశాసనమునకు సంపూర్ణముగా విరుద్ధముగా ప్రవర్తించుట ,
3) అసత్యములు పలుకుట , వంచన చేయుట 4) మహానుశాసన నియమములు విరుద్దముగా ” తానుకూడా “శంకరాచార్య” “పీఠాధీశ్వరుడిని” అని అబద్దాలు చెపుతూ జనాలని మోసముచేస్తూ ధనార్జన చేస్తూ భక్తులను, వంచించుట ,
5) మఠ మర్యాదలను సంన్యాసి ధర్మములను వదలి ఇష్ఠానుసారము ప్రవర్తించుట , ఇత్యాది కారణములతో సన్యాసి వేషములో ఉన్న ఈ విధుశేఖర అనేవ్యక్తిని సనాతన , హిందూ ధర్మ , సంన్యాసి వ్యవస్థనుండి సంపూర్ణముగా బహిక్షరించటమైనది , ఈ నిర్ణయము 2500 సం పూర్వము శ్రీ ఆది శంకరాచార్యులు తమ ఆమ్నాయ పీఠ సంరక్షణకై మఠామ్నాయ మహానుశాసన ప్రకారము ఎవరైనా అనధికారులు, అయోగ్యులు తమ పీఠ విషయములో అధర్మముగా కలుగజేసుకొంటున్నా అటువంటి వారిని నిగ్రహము చేసి తద్వారా మఠ , ధర్మ పరిరక్షణ కార్యమునకు “మనీషి” విద్వత్ పరిషత్ కు ఇచ్చిన అధికారము తో

నియమాలను అనుసరించి ఈ నిర్ణయము చేయబడినది , చత్వారః సమభాగినః అను ప్రమాణమును అనుసరించి శ్రీ భారతీ తీర్థ స్వామివారికి కూడా ఈ విషయములో సహా భాగి కావున మీకు కూడా ఒక అవకాశము, మా మర్యాద పూర్వక నివేదన : ఇందులో మీకు ఎటువంటి ఆపేక్షణలు ఉన్నా మీకు నిజముగా శ్రీ శారదా శ్రీ చంద్రమౌలీశ్వరుల, శ్రీ ఆది శంకరాచార్యుల వారిపై విశ్వాసము ఉన్నచో ఒక 15 రోజులలోపు మాత్రమే మీ ఆపేక్షణలను మీరే స్వయముగా లిఖితపూర్వముగా తెలియజేయవచ్చు , పూర్వము కూడా మీకు ఈ విషయములలో సమాధానానికి ( 31 ఆగస్టు 2025) సవినయముగా పత్రము వ్రాసియుంటిమి కానీ మీ నుండి ఎటువంటి సమాధానము రాని కారణముగా ఇది మీకు చివ్వరి అవకాశము,

Subject: Request for Historical Evidence and Clarification from Sri Bharati Teertha Swamiji Regarding Sringeri Math’s Claims on Key Traditional Matters
Revered Jagadguru Sri Bharati Teertha Swamiji Maharaj,
We offer our humble pranāmas at your divine lotus feet.
Through this respectful letter, we seek your Srimukha (formal signed explanation) on a few deeply significant matters pertaining to the history and tradition of Sringeri Sharada Peetham and the sacred lineage of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The following points have come to our attention and have raised serious questions in the minds of scholars, devotees, and dharma-parāyana followers across Bharat:

1. Date of Sri Adi Shankaracharya’s Birth: Till now We, the entire tradition, nation believed that 2500 years back Adi Shankaracharya took birth and established Sringeri Math in Sringeri, but Sringeri math claims that Adi Shankaracharya was born in 788 CE and lived until 820 CE. However, this contradicts the traditional and historical position upheld by the other three Amnaya Peethams (Dwaraka, Badari, Puri), where Adi Shankara’s life is dated to 507 BCE – 475 BCE, i.e., 2532 years ago. These dates are not merely beliefs but are supported by numerous traditional sources, temple records, and historical lineages.
   We request: The historical documents, palm leaf manuscripts, or any archival records available with Sringeri Math supporting the 788–820 CE timeline.
   • Xerox copies or photographic proof of such records.
2. Sri Chandramauleshwara Linga Discrepancy:
   It is traditionally believed and recorded that Sri Adi Shankaracharya blessed only one Sri Chandramauleshwara Linga at Sringeri. However, it is now being claimed that the Sringeri Math holds two such Lingas. This raises the question:
   • On what basis is this claim made?,
3. Avaidika Sannyasa Initiation by Sringeri Math:
   According to Dharma Shastras and the Sannyasa tradition, Paramahamsa Parivrajaka Dandi Sannyasa Deeksha is strictly prescribed for those of Brahmana varna only.

However, we have verified information that:

• A Vaishya varna individual was brought to Sringeri by Sri Bharati Teertha and initiated into Dandi Sannyasa by Sri Sadyojatashankara Swamiji under the direct orders, arrangement and instructions of Your Holiness.
• Sri Bharati Teertha Swamiji himself personally conducted the Pattabhisheka ceremony for this individual in Haldipur and named him Vamānāshrama Swamiji.
We respectfully ask: Under what authority was this done?

4. Misuse of the Titles “Jagadguru” and “Shankaracharya”:

As per Mathamnaya Mahanushasana, there are only 4 Amnaya Peethams and 4 Jagadgurus. In one peetham there cannot be 2 Jagadgurus, एक एवाभिषेच्यः स्यादन्ते लक्षणसम्मतः । तत्तत्पीठे क्रमेणैव न बहु युज्यते क्वचित् ॥ 63॥ ) , now a days other than Sri Bharati Teerhta another Vidhushekhara Bharati also started presenting himself as Jagadgurus which is against to the Law, .
• This appears to violate the tradition and instructions of Sri Adi Shankaracharya himself.
• Furthermore, the usage of the title “Jagadguru” and “Shankaracharya” by someone not yet fully seated in accordance with Mahanushasana raises serious questions.
Our Humble Request: In light of these grave concerns, we respectfully request your divine Srimukham—an official written response bearing your own signature (Sri Bharati Teertha Swamiji ) —providing:
• Clear answers to the above points. Supporting documentation or proof wherever applicable.
We sincerely hope to receive your clarification within 15 days from the date of this letter. In the absence of a formal response, we will have no alternative but to consider the following:
• The 507–475 BCE timeline as historically and traditionally correct.
• That Sringeri Math and its administration are deviating from Dharma Shastra and the instructions laid down by Sri Adi Shankaracharya as per Mathamnaya Mahanushasana.
